The runway was the sea itself!

To be, or not to be, that was the question. Whether it was nobler in the mind to OK the decision to visit one of those attractive islands in Canada or to postpone the same till the weather says, “OK, OK…, I’ll take care of it!”

And, much to our pleasure, the Sun raised the green signal. Soon, we got into a ship and reached the island, and stayed in a Hotel. As we watched the sea and the surrounding forest-like areas, we found ourselves in a unique world and realized the meaning of “Nature’s Kingdom”.

Soon, we found ourselves in a restaurant where there were several options, both in veg and non-veg foods!

Then, the usual evening walk, supper and conversations which touched upon various interesting subjects…”

Soon after, we were asleep and woke up at about 6 O’clock followed by morning walk and breakfast… and a visit to the near-by beach.

What’s so surprising was the fact that it was not a poor village area as we thought. There were huge buildings and shops all around.

What’s even more exciting was our trip back to our area on a flight with limited seats, but exciting. The runway was the sea itself!

Just a 50-50!

Right now, it is difficult to say which party is dominating in the one-day match. It is not a sunny day but still it is not so cold, though the trees are blowing their heads off and on to cause some difficulty for the people who are not at their houses.
Even as I write this, there is a message from the sun, “don’t be in a hurry, open the window and you will find the rays broader and warmer.”
Yeah, much to my relief, the message from the sun was so heart-warming!
Now, the question, “who will win the match” is still there but it won’t be a match which ends in a draw!…

Serials all the way

Watching a couple of programs, mostly T.V. serials has become an unavoidable habit. At times, I used to wonder why I should waste my time on these serials but when I think about these serials or certain interesting programs what comes to my mind is the fact that these programs in hundreds of channels are encouraging the youngsters to participate in any of these programs and earn enough money for their livelihood or to enter the mega world of movies. Another important fact is that most of the serials are between 6 pm and 10 pm and even the slum dwellers can spend their time usefully!

An evening walk indeed!

A lazy mind may have hundred excuses to make it appear that an evening walk is worthless but an “adamant self” defies the order and pushes you out with a smile. The beginning of my evening walk on that day looked neither clumsy nor dynamic! So, off I went, enjoying the race between the farmers and construction workers. New buildings were coming up but not at the expense of the farmers who were working hard in the field. My only concern was the absence of birds who would fly around making some musical sounds.

Any way, when I found myself alone, I asked the birds, “what happened to those cows and buffalos?” and their reply was “Do you enjoy their rocky sounds and ugly look?”

Beware of super stars!

Politics seems to have become one of the most sought after professions in India, especially at state-level it has undergone a sea change in most states, resulting in the birth of several new parties so as to accommodate new hands crossing over to any party.

Policies of the good old Parties face several problems because the new-born smaller parties are making tall promises to the village people who face so many problems because of natural calamities or some other reasons but they totally believe that smaller parties would solve their problems. People, in general, believe that most of the difficulties faced by them are owing to the failure of bigger parties which are in power.

When a state is getting ready for general election the main parties seek the support of the newly retired super stars of the movies who are ready to start a new party so that they can dream of occupying the “Big chair” if they win!

Let us wait and see!

Rain, Shine, Snow, Wind and the Common Man

Nature has to appear in different forms and colors, keeping the people in different parts in good humor or in not-so-happy moods in other parts! The mood of the people in different parts of the world depends on how hot the sun in during summer or how dark and windy the area is during winter cum rainy days. Frankly speaking, worst days are when the wind is in full form in company with mild rains or snows which penetrate your warm cloths on which we have to invest lots of money! Anyway, mid-summer may not be very pleasant but those who are interested in sports, especially cricket, nothing on earth can spoil their mood!
Whether you like it or not, we need all sorts of weather in order to overcome shortage of water or electricity.
Hats off to all kinds of weather!

Dancing to the tune of nature

A couple of months ago, it used to be bright and sunny. The sun took its own time to say, “Bye, bye guys,” rather reluctantly, but you had to wait till 9:30pm to see the glorious sunset!
Anyway, slowly but steadily, the weather was neither too hot nor too cold and one was tempted to go for the usual evening walk, enjoying the gentle breeze and affordable sunny days. Occasionally one was tempted to go through the weather forecast to know what’s in store for us on each and every day. Your friends and relatives gave you a hint on what’s in store on a particular day.
What prompted me to write these lines was the unexpected “snow fall”, which I witnessed after a post lunch cat nap. My goodness! We are still in the grip of the “Snow rain” accompanied by massive dry leaves!
Let us hope for the best.

Don’t try to enter through the back door!

In a democratic country, most of the precious hours are wasted on all sorts of protests which may, invariably, lead to closure of shops, big and small, and the unavoidable police intervention and its after effects.
The opposition parties would make it appear that the government is responsible for heavy rains or prolonged summer which may result either in water problem or flood-like situations resulting from season rains.
If the opposition parties are keen on solving such problem, they should not put the entire blame on the government but in most states it is made to appear that the ruling party was responsible for heavy rains or prolonged summer, ending in water scarcity. Anyway, the people, nowadays are aware of the real culprits!

Busiest people!

It seems politicians are the busiest people in certain countries and there is no dearth of issues that can keep them active and noisy. Ruling parties can set in motion several “welfare” measures that will have to undergo objections or unsatisfactory response from opposition parties. One of the issues that could trigger protests from opposition parties with the support of people who are supposed to be the beneficiaries is freebies. The next result is the indefinite postponement of the so-called welfare measures much to the satisfaction of the opposition and the ruling parties. Of course, the welfare measures will get the green signal from both parties. Frankly speaking, many states have become land of freebies.

Still in Demand

Though the world is flooded with various sources of information, the print media has its own charm. Of course, even the print media has changed a lot but the basic qualities such as cartoons, “Letters to the Editor” and the sports column are still there.

As far as the good old days are concerned, we used to wait, eagerly every morning for the day’s popular newspapers [English, and Vernacular newspapers] for our favorite topics. The tastes of the elders and the children were not much different, when it touched upon cricket and cartoons. By the way, there were a couple of journals known for funny cartoons! We still remember some of those cartoons.

Habits die hard. Even now, howsoever old we are, we eagerly wait for the day’s newspaper or certain modern journals which publish some funny articles about presidents or prime ministers, accompanied by very interesting cartoons!
