When spring in Vancouver is sworn in…

Spring was, of course, not far behind but still late by a couple of weeks. Soon, it was sworn in as the ruler of these parts of the earth. As far as winter was concerned it did give way to spring but not before leaving traces of its contributions so that spring will find it difficult to make its presence felt at the outset.

The main job of spring is to stretch the days longer and longer backward and forward so that night becomes an eight hour affair!…and it is contrary to what winter does.

So, the people, as usual, expected bright and sunny days and did experience the thrill of such an atmosphere only to be duped by the traces of winter’s leftovers! In fact, winter was playing spoil sports by restraining the enthusiastic spring. There were intermittent rains and cool winds. But wait! You will recall some of the good qualities of the winter when spring is at its peak! [When the days are too long and your sleeping hours are reduced to the minimum].

First things first. I am one of those retired chaps who are young at heart. I watch cricket matches and jump for joy when Tendulkar scores yet another century. I read newspapers and books too, though I am not crazy about them. I think I have a mind free from hatred and I owe it to the wonders of nature and music. I scribble something now and then and call myself a writer! Though I have settled in Ooty, a lovely hill station in Tamil Nadu—I must emphasize the fact that I was born and brought up in Tellicherry in North Kerala and studied in the good old Government Brennen College. Of and on, my mind goes back to my ancestral house at Tiruvangad in Tellicherry in front of an ancient Sri Ram temple. I am indebted to this wonderful place which inculcated in me a love for cricket and literature. But all said and done, I am an Indian first.

  1. Weather is a great metaphor for life! Sometimes it rains and sometimes it shines, and theres very little anyone can do anything about it!
