Wait and see!

“We woke up one fine morning and found ourselves famous”, boosted the 10 and 20 rupee notes, showing their smiling faces from purses and Money Boxes even as the 1000 rupee and 500 rupee notes tried to hide their faces in shame.
Then, in a few days one could see long queues in front of Banks and ATMs for these notes in exchange of the unwanted 500 and 1000 Rupee notes, which would become totally useless in a couple of months!
Not long ago these rich notes were the monarchs of all they surveyed and their rights none to dispute. Now these notes are in such a position that they would be totally valueless in a couple of months… that was the deadline for them. Of course, the notes of smaller denominations will be in great demand for several months till those in bigger denominations are adequately replaced by new ones… or rather, the big and small are made available to the rich and poor.
The general advice is, “Wait and watch”. “How long”, we may ask. Just then I heard, “Wait and see”, from none other than the smaller one.

First things first. I am one of those retired chaps who are young at heart. I watch cricket matches and jump for joy when Tendulkar scores yet another century. I read newspapers and books too, though I am not crazy about them. I think I have a mind free from hatred and I owe it to the wonders of nature and music. I scribble something now and then and call myself a writer! Though I have settled in Ooty, a lovely hill station in Tamil Nadu—I must emphasize the fact that I was born and brought up in Tellicherry in North Kerala and studied in the good old Government Brennen College. Of and on, my mind goes back to my ancestral house at Tiruvangad in Tellicherry in front of an ancient Sri Ram temple. I am indebted to this wonderful place which inculcated in me a love for cricket and literature. But all said and done, I am an Indian first.
