All is well that begins well!

Yah! One of my co-workers looked hear and there and opened the topic, “so, you are one of our colleagues…”

I nodded.

“Well, don’t worry”, he assured.

Before I could react, he continued, “what is your salary?”

“Hundred plus,” I responded.

“Wow! That shows that you are our section head?”

“May be.”

“Your position is safe. A good job in this town,” he assured.

“Are you sure?”

“The fact is, your salary is good enough to pay the monthly rent, which is around hundred.”

“The amount looks pretty good,” I assured myself and accepted the said amount and informed the owner.

“OK sir, you are in a good position. All the best!”

The salary was good mainly because the owner can use the amount for buying things that were beyond his reach!

What made our family members a bit unhappy was that the amount left behind was not good enough to buy a radio or a tv.

All is well that ends well!

First things first. I am one of those retired chaps who are young at heart. I watch cricket matches and jump for joy when Tendulkar scores yet another century. I read newspapers and books too, though I am not crazy about them. I think I have a mind free from hatred and I owe it to the wonders of nature and music. I scribble something now and then and call myself a writer! Though I have settled in Ooty, a lovely hill station in Tamil Nadu—I must emphasize the fact that I was born and brought up in Tellicherry in North Kerala and studied in the good old Government Brennen College. Of and on, my mind goes back to my ancestral house at Tiruvangad in Tellicherry in front of an ancient Sri Ram temple. I am indebted to this wonderful place which inculcated in me a love for cricket and literature. But all said and done, I am an Indian first.
